| HelenTouray and her brother Peter raised money towards building a
community library in the grounds of the large Bakoteh Proper Junior
School. Further money was raised by Mrs Smith and Ruth Ledger with her
friend Jo and there was a grand opening ceremony on February 23rd 2005 |

| An
old classroom adjoining the Library was converted to a computer
lab.
If you
are planning a trip to the Gambia please do consider bringing
with you just two or three books and handing them into the GETSuk
office in Kololi - if all visitors did this we would soon fill
those empty shelves and also have stocks to supply other
community libraries to be set up in the future. Books suitable
for all ages are welcome as the library serves the whole
community. |

Appeal
|
| Helen Touray, our administrator in
The Gambia has been connected with this school for a number of years, in
particular raising the funds to build the library at the school and a
computer room. They were in desperate need of funds to
replace the roof of the library, as the roof was in a very poor state of
repair. We are delighted to say that Helen managed to raise over £1000
and the roof has now been repaired.
